The DeKalb County Public Works & Infrastructure committee approved a series of routine contract renewals and substitutions during its final meeting of 2025 and recommended an on-call engineering multi-award to the Board of Commissioners.
Approvals included an extension of high-visibility reflective safety apparel contracts through Dec. 31, 2026 (total not to exceed $130,000) that will continue to serve multiple departments; a renewal of catch basin cleaning services with Metals and Materials Engineers LLC (not to exceed $1,016,275) through Jan. 31, 2027; and a contract extension for Wolpert Inc. to allow completion of data reconciliation and final closeout for a gravity sewer assessment and cleaning contract. The committee also approved a cooperative piggyback agreement using a Cobb County electrical maintenance contract (Capital City Electrical Services LLC) not to exceed $100,000.
On the RFP for on-call engineering and design services, staff offered a substitute to add Pond & Company after an LSBE score recalculation and to reduce each per-award cap from $1,000,000 to $600,000. The change produced a not-to-exceed total of $3,600,000, which staff said will be paid from SPLOST 2 (transportation category B). The committee approved the substitute and recommended the item for Board consideration at the business meeting.
The approved items are largely operational or contract-management steps meant to maintain county infrastructure services and ensure continuity of vendor support. Committee members noted the importance of completing QA/QC and final documentation for the Wolpert contract before final closeout. The committee adjourned after brief closing remarks and holiday well-wishes.
