Waukee council approves sale of excess right-of-way parcels to Kettlestone Lakes LLC for $78,600

At public hearing g1 staff (Andy) described two parcels (25‑8 and 25‑27) acquired as excess right-of-way during interstate interchange construction and deeded to Waukee by West Des Moines in 2020. Andy explained the parcels total approximately 1.2 acres combined and are of no direct public benefit to the city.
Andy said Kettlestone Lakes LLC, the adjacent developer, submitted a purchase offer of $78,600, consistent with a city appraisal, and that no other bids were received. "The amount of the offer is in the amount of $78,600; that amount is consistent with an appraisal that the city had conducted," Andy said.
Council moved to approve the vacation and disposal resolution and accepted the purchase agreement; the resolution passed by roll call vote with council members voting in favor.
