The Board of Education approved routine business items on the agenda by roll-call vote, including approval of the Nov. 20, 2025, minutes and finance consent items listed 1 through 8. Personnel items and second-reading policy items were also moved and approved during the meeting.
During the meeting the superintendent and board recognized retiring New Providence High School math teacher Peter Schafer, who is retiring effective in January. The superintendent said the board will formally recognize both Joe Walsh and Bernadette Caccaro at the January 22 meeting for their years of service.
Mr. Testa read election statistics into the record: 10,377 registered voters in New Providence; 6,221 ballots cast for a 59.95% turnout. He also read the top write-in totals for two candidates (Amy Lapree 1,037; Rupa Kalei 1,027). The chair reminded members that the reorganization meeting is scheduled for Jan. 8, 2026.
The public portion included one resident question about committee transparency and scheduling; the public session concluded and the board recessed to closed session for student HIB and personnel matters.
