The Romulus City Council on Dec. 22 approved a slate of appointments and reappointments to city boards and commissions.
Council concurred with administration to reappoint Craig Blank to the Cemetery Board of Trustees for a term to expire on Nov. 1, 2030. The council also approved reappointments to the Recreation Commission — Autumn Archie, Ruby Paisley, William Wadsworth, Diane Towett (transcription variants), Heaven McFarland, Leah Collette and Cheyenne Hicks — with terms expiring Dec. 31, 2028.
Due to a vacancy on the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) following Brian Bush's resignation, council appointed Justin Freeman to the DDA for a term to expire March 11, 2027. The mayor introduced Freeman in the audience and noted he is a downtown business owner who recently rebuilt a car wash.
Council also approved reappointments of James Acrova (transcription variants Provo/Crova) and Daniel McAnally to the Planning Commission for three-year terms expiring Jan. 31, 2029. All motions were moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
Why it matters: the reappointments maintain quorum and continuity on boards that advise the council on planning, downtown development and cemetery management. The mayor thanked residents who volunteer to serve on commissions and emphasized their importance to city operations.
