County assessment staff told township assessors that the Department of Revenue will deliver 2027 farmland values this spring and that McLean County will convene its Farmland Assessment Review Committee (FARC) to perform the required review.
The presenter warned that statewide questions are increasing about large parcels classified as farmland that may not be actively farmed and asked assessors to give careful consideration to whether bulk land is truly in agricultural use.
Why it matters: reclassification of bulk parcels could change valuations and affect revenues and taxpayer notices. The office urged assessors to study parcels and to be prepared to discuss recommendations with FARC when it convenes.
Next steps: staff expect the Department of Revenue to deliver values in the spring and will announce FARC convening and any guidance for assessors at that time.
