Denton County Tax Assessor-Collector Dawn Weis updated the Commissioners Court on the county's property-tax statement mailing and payment options for the season.
Weis said that tax statements have been mailed after the office waited for voter-approval rates from two large school districts and that statements had been available online since October. She urged residents to use email and the revamped county website (which now includes a QR code) or e-checks to avoid long telephone waits during the mailing season and noted the office has added part-time temporary staff to help manage mailed correspondence.
Weis advised residents with exemption questions to contact the Denton Central Appraisal District rather than the tax office, although she said her administrative team will work with CAD to resolve issues when emailed. She also emphasized the office negotiated lower convenience fees with its card processor and recommended online payment methods to reduce fees and in-person wait times.
No formal action was required; commissioners thanked the tax office for the update.
