Austin Peay reports supplemental fall enrollment at 11,547, up 3.2% from census

Austin Peay State University’s provost reported that the university’s supplemental fall 2025 enrollment reached 11,547, an increase of 3.2% from the September census of 11,185.

“At the end of the fall term when grades are posted and students are enrolled in the spring we’ll look to see if there’s a correlation between those students who are more engaged to see how they did in their classes,” Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Mitch Cordova said, explaining the office’s approach to tracking retention after outreach efforts.

Cordova told the Academic Affairs Committee the uptick reflects a shift toward full‑time enrollment in both undergraduate and graduate populations while part‑time enrollment has decreased. He credited Austin Peay’s enrollment management staff and faculty for the positive trend.

Committee members were told the enrollment figure comes from the university’s supplemental fall count, which captures students who enrolled in the second part of the fall term but were not in classes on the September census date. Cordova said that while the data show encouraging increases in engagement and full‑time status, analysis of course outcomes and spring reenrollment will be necessary to confirm effects on retention.

The presentation was informational and required no committee action.

Votes at the meeting included routine approval of the 09/12/2025 minutes and a voice vote to adjourn; no policy or budget votes were taken on the enrollment item.
