County and district attorney propose transfer of several Connect program positions to DA’s office; officials say no added budget cost

Presenters said the positions currently manage alcohol and drug monitoring programs, drug court coordination, mental health court and teen court, and that moving administrative and court‑related duties to the DA’s office would improve information flow and reduce duplicated logging of contacts between human services and court systems. Treatment services (counseling, substance‑abuse therapy) would remain with Human Services.
Speakers said affected employees have been consulted and that the change would not increase total personnel costs because the positions are already budgeted; accounting would shift from Human Services to the DA’s budgeted accounts. Presenters also noted the change could expand eligibility for some monitoring programs to out‑of‑county residents and improve the DA’s ability to access monitoring data needed for court supervision.
The transfer will be brought to the board for a vote at a future meeting; presenters said employees could opt to return to Human Services if they prefer and that job locations would remain the same.
