The council approved a proposed exchange of approximately 2.62 acres of city-owned surplus land located west of the Pocatello Regional Airport for about 1.51 acres owned by Teaville Ag, a swap described to provide industrial access on the airport's west side.
Tom Kirkman, public works director, said the municipal parcel had been declared surplus and that the exchange was published in early December. Staff told the council the piece the city would acquire is industrial land, while the city parcel to be exchanged is agricultural; zoning on each parcel is expected to remain as-is. Council members asked whether the Teaville property lies outside city limits and how value differences would be addressed; staff said the industrial access and operational benefit to airport property provided sufficient justification for the acreage difference.
Council member Mangum moved to approve the exchange as outlined in agenda item 9; a motion was seconded by Council President Lurek and approved by roll call.
