The ROCORI Public School District board approved a two-year collective bargaining agreement with paraprofessionals and health technicians represented by SEIU Local 284.
Staff said negotiators and district representatives met repeatedly over the summer and fall and reached a deal the union ratified. Highlights presented to the board included a 1% salary increase in year one and another 1% in year two, an increase in the district’s health-insurance contribution (5% in year one and 10% in year two as presented), step and longevity adjustments (an initial 5¢ per hour longevity increase and an additional 5¢ in year two), elimination of step 1 while adding step 6, and the establishment of a mentorship program in the second year. Staff described additional contract language updates around work arrangements and bus assignments.
The presenter summarized the financial effect as roughly a 9.93% total settlement across the two years. The paraprofessional union ratified the agreement and the board voted to approve. Jennifer moved the motion to approve, a board member seconded, and the motion carried by voice vote.
What happens next: HR and finance staff will implement the contract language, update payroll and benefits administration, and post the ratified agreement to the district’s public records.
