The Rensselaer County Legislature moved through a block of routine measures at its Dec. 18 special meeting, adopting several resolutions, budget amendments and vendor agreements largely by voice vote and, when tallied, by recorded 18-0 votes.
The body approved a resolution relieving village taxes under section 1442 of the New York State Real Property Tax Law and adopted the county’s schedule of real property taxes for 2026 (G51225). It authorized contracts including a legal research services agreement with LexisNexis (G51325) and an annual radio service subscription with Motorola Solutions for the Bureau of Public Safety (G51425). The legislature also approved an agreement with Better Communications Inc. for communications support (G51525), authorized transport and reuse of biosolids for District No. 1 (G51825), and voted to purchase replacement trucks for District 1 (G51925).
Minutes were approved (motion by Mr. Harrington, seconded and carried), and a set of budget actions — including an amendment to the 2025 Rensselaer County adaptive budget and amendment to the adopted 2026 budget — were adopted (G52025, G52125). Each item in the G5 series was introduced by Chairwoman Hoffman or on her recommendation and carried on voice vote; in several cases the clerk announced a tally of "18 ayes" when the roll was clear.
No controversial debate or amendments were recorded on the floor. The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn by Legislator Maloney, which carried unanimously. These resolutions and contracts take effect as recorded in the minutes; any procurement or budget actions will proceed under the usual administrative processes and reporting mechanisms.
