Morris Township’s governing body on Dec. 17 adopted two ordinances affecting local traffic rules and approved a slate of resolutions, including the appointment of a probationary firefighter.
The clerk read Ordinance 27-25, which amends Chapter 88 (Vehicles and Traffic) to remove a designated handicap parking space at 15 Emmett Avenue. After a public hearing with no speakers, the committee voted to adopt the ordinance. “I, Donna J. Greglia, mayor, declare ordinance number 27-25 approved and adopted,” the mayor said after the roll call.
The committee then considered Ordinance 28-25, adding provisions regulating bicycles, scooters and e-bikes in Chapter 88. With no public comment, the body voted to adopt that ordinance as well; the mayor again ordered the clerk to publish proper notice of adoption.
On the consent calendar the committee approved resolution numbers 253-25 through 266-25 by a single motion and roll call. The mayor told the meeting that Resolution 267-25 was added earlier in the day; the committee approved it separately. That resolution appoints Aiden S. Fernandez as a probationary firefighter Class 2 for the Morris Township Fire Department effective Jan. 5, 2026. A committee member recused from that item earlier in the meeting because of a role in the fire department; the remaining members voted in favor.
The committee approved monthly reports and authorized payment of bills and vouchers totaling $9,233,279.51.
The mayor confirmed the reorganization meeting will be Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026 at 7 p.m., and the next regular meeting will be Jan. 21, 2026 at 7 p.m.
Votes at the meeting were recorded by roll call; the clerk recorded affirmative votes from the present committee members on the ordinances, the consent resolutions and the firefighter appointment. The committee directed the clerk to publish required notices for the adopted ordinances and resolutions.
