Nueces County allocates $2.5 million from Port property sale, $500,000 to each commissioner

The Nueces County Commissioners Court voted unanimously Dec. 10 to allocate $500,000 to each commissioner — $2.5 million in total — from proceeds of the recent Port of Corpus Christi property sale to fund existing county facility projects and previously approved needs.

Commissioner Brent Chesney, who introduced the proposal, framed the distribution as a deliberate step to address rising project costs and increase county reserves. "Quite honestly, I think this is a very positive thing for all of us to be able to have some funds that all are have to come back to the court and court approved," Chesney said during the meeting (SEG 1570–1579).
