District facilities staff outline heating procedures, AHERA inspection and finishing work on CTE and Riverview projects

Speaker 1, a facilities staff member, told the committee that the district is monitoring boiler operations during cold weather and is keeping buildings in "occupied" mode at about 72°F on particularly cold days to maintain safe temperatures in case a boiler fails. "Sometimes they go on what's called unoccupied ... and then we increase it at 6 in the morning," the speaker said.

The facilities representative said EA Group is scheduled to conduct the district's six‑month AHERA inspection on Monday, Dec. 29, and Tuesday, Dec. 30, to review hazardous materials and keep the district's HERO report up to date. "That inspection is for all hazardous materials that are in the school district," the speaker said.

The staff member also described recent remediation and renovation work: one floor of the high‑school nurses' office was encapsulated and a floating floor installed to maintain compliance, and flooring in the CTE Construction Building bistro was removed and abated by a contractor identified as Precision. "They were hired to remove and abate as needed," the speaker said.

On larger capital work, the speaker reported that the CTE and Riverview projects "are moving forward" and are "starting to wrap up," with final walkthroughs and punch‑list work planned in the coming weeks.
