The Morris Planning Board honored Sonia Santiago at its Dec. 1 meeting with a formal proclamation marking her retirement after 24 years of municipal service.
Board members read a prepared resolution recognizing Santiago’s 21 years of service to township land-use boards — including the planning board, board of adjustment and related committees — and earlier roles in building and engineering and tax and sewer departments. Members praised her organization, recordkeeping and long tenure and extended best wishes to her and her family.
Chair and multiple members described Santiago’s work as an asset to the township and presented the proclamation to be delivered to her. Members noted the recognition was a bittersweet moment at what the board described as her final meeting.
