Hahn said the foundry does powder coating on-site and can rivet a manufactured city-logo tag or provide an etched logo. Members discussed spacing — staff measured 100–150 feet as a guideline, although some members argued for fewer, strategically placed cans near benches and business entrances. Members also weighed whether to buy split (single-unit) receptacles or separate recycling and trash cans and noted the state’s organics and recycling requirements that may make separate streams necessary in some locations.
A motion was made to adopt fewer, higher-quality cans (black trash cans with the full-color downtown logo; blue cans for recycling), with the inclusion of the rain canopy and raised base; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff will finalize a placement map and return a fixed cost estimate and vendor quote.
