Sedgwick County commissioners recess into executive session on personnel matter, take no binding action

The Sedgwick County Board of County Commissioners convened a special meeting Thursday and recessed into an executive session for one hour to discuss personnel matters related to a management position.

An unidentified presiding speaker moved the commission into private session, saying the recess would last until 10:30 a.m. "to discuss personnel matters of non elected personnel related to a management position," according to the motion presented at the meeting.

The motion to enter executive session was seconded and the clerk called the roll. The meeting minutes show commissioners were recorded as present during the roll call; the commission then entered executive session as announced by the presiding speaker.

After the scheduled hour, the board returned to open session. "There was no binding action taken today in executive session," the presiding speaker said. Another participant noted that all commissioners were present during the executive session; the presiding speaker confirmed that attendance.

With no further business, the presiding speaker adjourned the special meeting.

No statutes, ordinances, resolutions, or contracts were referenced during the public portions of the meeting, and no formal votes on policy or personnel were recorded in the open session.
