The Mobile County Commission on Dec. 22 approved a sweeping consent agenda covering grants, contract renewals and construction actions.
The commission approved a subrecipient agreement with Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Alabama for up to $140,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds to replace roofs for eligible homeowners within the urban county, according to the agenda description. The motion was moved and seconded on the record and advanced as part of the consent agenda.
The commission also approved a final contract figure for an effluent force main project with Kearney Construction, listed on the agenda as $15,995,800; a change order note indicated a $4,000 decrease with no schedule change. Other project approvals included multiple assignments and signings for geotechnical and professional engineering services for local road and drainage projects.
Procurement and subscription renewals approved on the consent agenda included a CommCate API web services and GIS subscription for the environmental enforcement department at $20,278; a Sharp copier lease under the state contract for domestic relations; and technology and service renewals for the county’s revenue commission, public works and sheriff’s office. The commission also adopted a sole-source resolution to purchase Lucas Chest Compression Systems through Mobile County Emergency Medical Services, funded by CDBG grants in amounts listed on the agenda.
Several park, arts and community sponsorships were approved, including District 1 education fund allocations to the Mobile Arts Council and other community groups for programs and events. The agenda packet noted that some projects are subject to legal review or the submission of required documents.
All consent items were moved, seconded and advanced during the meeting. Specific motions and “so moved/second” confirmations appear in the official minutes; the agenda flagged a small number of items as “voted at conference.”
The commission’s action consolidated numerous routine and project-specific approvals into a single floor vote; most items were handled without extended discussion.
What happens next: contracts and agreements approved on the consent agenda will proceed to implementation or legal review as indicated in the agenda item descriptions.
