West Chester public works begins enforcement letters for trash-and-recycling violations

Anderson said a letter drafted by Erin and reviewed by the solicitor was being used to notify owners and that staff have started handing out notices. The committee heard that records of correspondence will be maintained in SmartGov, and that a 30-day compliance window will be the baseline for follow-up.
The issue surfaced in public discussion earlier in the meeting when council members asked how private haulers would be accounted for. Anderson said the borough had reached out to private haulers seeking lists of residences they serve but had received no complete responses to date and that staff will continue outreach.
No formal enforcement actions beyond notice distribution were reported at the meeting.
