Borough IT reports cloud outages, completed upgrades and cybersecurity blocks in quarterly update

Bill, the borough’s chief information security officer, presented the quarterly IT report covering September through November, telling council most projects planned for the year are complete and that routine maintenance and security work continue.

Bill highlighted two external cloud outages that disrupted some borough services: an Amazon Web Services outage on Oct. 27 and an Azure outage on Oct. 29. He described the outages as illustrating how dependent local services are on cloud providers. On cybersecurity metrics he reported approximately 759 automated actions that blocked phishing or malware and described one prevented account‑takeover attempt in a police account.
Bill also said Webex enterprise provides robust transcription and meeting-management features and recommended continuing that platform for public meetings. He closed by saying the 2025 IT budget is on track and staff will produce the annual report in January.
