The Portage Planning Commission approved a site plan for a 4,940‑square‑foot building addition at Encapsus' plant on Dec. 15.
Staff reported the addition would be pre‑engineered metal, sit 66 feet from the rear lot line, and require no new stormwater management because no new impervious surface would be created. The plan also showed two flammable‑solid storage lockers in the rear of the property. Staff recommended approval and commissioners moved and seconded the measure; the roll call vote carried.
The commission noted earlier in the meeting that prior Encapsus installations had been completed without a building permit or site‑plan approval; staff urged the company to complete permitting for both the tank and the addition before operation. The approved site plan still requires standard building permits and any applicable state approvals before construction or use can proceed.
Because no public objections were raised during the hearing on the addition and staff recommended approval, commissioners approved the plan as presented.
