Abington High boys soccer honored at school board meeting after first state title in 41 years

At the start of its Nov. 25 meeting the Abington Board of School Directors honored Abington Senior High School’s boys soccer team for winning the 2025 PIAA Class 4A state championship — the school's first state title in 41 years.
Doctor Alice Swift, the high school principal, and Charles Grasty, the athletic director, introduced a video and invited coaches and players to the lectern. Coach Randy Garber, who has coached the team for 32 years and is retiring, thanked the community and celebrated the players’ season; the presentation singled out seniors and key contributors, including Kyle Kretchman (16 goals, 4 assists in the regular season) and several seniors and juniors recognized for league honors.
Board members and community members offered congratulations and reflected on the team’s role in bringing the community together. The superintendent and board thanked coaches, staff and families for supporting the program.
