City names new natatorium "Alamogordo Aquatic Center" in unanimous vote

City staff told commissioners the public’s top choice in the poll was "Cactus Cove" (44%), but after discussion Commissioner Mark Tapley moved to select "Alamogordo Aquatic Center." Commissioner Warren Robinson seconded the motion and the commission approved it 7-0.
Staff said the naming action will allow contractors and suppliers to begin incorporating the name into building materials and signage plans. No dissent or amendments were recorded during the discussion.
The decision follows the city’s public naming process and will inform signage, marketing and program materials as the facility moves toward opening.
