Summary
In separate dockets during the same court session, the judge accepted a plea and imposed a 10‑month state‑jail sentence for Angela Perez and granted deferred adjudication with community‑based conditions for Brandon Garcia.
SAN ANTONIO — During the Dec. 24 session in Bexar County court, the judge accepted plea agreements for two defendants in separate cause numbers.
In cause numbers 2024CR0431 and 2025CR003199, Angela Perez waived a jury, acknowledged she had reviewed discovery and the indictment with counsel, and entered pleas consistent with a negotiated plea agreement. The court found the plea knowingly and voluntarily entered, accepted evidence and sentenced Perez to 10 months in a state jail facility, imposed a $1,000 fine and $180 restitution to the Department of Public Safety, ordered credit for time served where applicable, ordered no residing in households with minors, and recommended placement in a therapeutic community. The sentences in the relevant causes will run concurrently.
In a separate matter, the court accepted an application for deferred adjudication for Brandon Garcia. The plea called for deferred adjudication with conditions including a $1,200 fine (probated), 120 hours of community service (with up to 60 hours credit for parenting classes), regular reporting (by Zoom or in person), random UAs, mental‑health evaluation, TAP evaluation, and no contact with specified named individuals and lack of firearms possession during the term.
Court admonishments were delivered on the record; both defendants were advised of the right to jury trial and to confront witnesses, and both acknowledged understanding the rights and consequences. The court noted that acceptance of the plea and recommendation does not prevent the court from imposing a different sentence in its discretion.
