Planning commission reviews 2026 schedule, bylaws and hears retiring commissioner

At the end of the Dec. 6 meeting, county staff presented building permits and a tentative meeting calendar for 2026 and said adopted bylaws, a code of ethics and a code of conduct were included for commissioners’ review ahead of an anticipated vote in January.
Staff (Nikki/Kelsey) told commissioners the regular meeting schedule would include adjustments for Monday holidays and noted the next regular meeting and public‑hearing date as Jan. 26, 2026, at 6 p.m.
In commission matters, one member announced that Dec. 6 was their last meeting after nearly two decades of service. “This is the last night I’m gonna be here,” the outgoing commissioner said, expressing thanks to colleagues. The chair said Ashley had offered to be chair and JD had offered to be vice chair; commissioners said they would vote on leadership in January.
Commissioners also received a brief update on Supervisor Harry Bryant’s health: staff reported Bryant had returned home from the hospital and was doing better.
The commission adjourned unanimously after closing remarks and holiday greetings.
