Hilliard council honors outgoing members Les Carrier and Peggy Hale

President Catone opened the Dec. 8 Hilliard City Council meeting by noting it was the final session for council members Les Carrier and Peggy Hale. The council read proclamations thanking both for their service and invited remarks.
Peggy Hale, speaking to the chamber, reflected on her time in office: "Truly serving on Hilliard City Council for the last 4 years has been 1 of the greatest honors of my life." She thanked residents, staff and colleagues and highlighted projects she helped advance, including the creation and growth of The Well.
Emily Cole and other council members paid tribute to Les Carrier, noting his 12 years of service and leadership during a period of growth and institutional change in Hilliard. Cole said Carrier helped shepherd the city through the transition to a council–city manager form of government and credited him with asking the council to ‘‘always center Hilliard first’’ in decision-making.
Resident Paul Lambert also spoke in support of Carrier, recounting past governance changes such as ballot measures that altered tax-increment financing procedures and the city’s form of government.
The council’s public acknowledgments closed with thanks to both members for their contributions; no formal actions related to the recognitions were required.
