The Opa-locka Commission unanimously approved a one-year field-usage agreement on Dec. 10 that will allow We Make Footballers Miami LLC to use Ingram Park for practices and home games. Under the agreement the organization agreed to reserve five slots at no charge for Opa-locka residents and offer a 30% discount to additional residents.
Staff described the proposed schedule: Tuesday through Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The city manager confirmed parks remain open to the public during use and that the organization must submit a schedule and cannot use the field during city events (blackout dates). Commissioners asked about Saturdays and suggested staff review weekend closing times; staff said Saturday hours could be examined separately.
Commissioner Santiago also asked that children from Opa-locka receive priority and said the applicant confirmed five resident slots are free and subsequent resident participants receive 30% off program fees.
The motion to approve the agreement carried 4-0.
