Guzman told the council the certified levy for 2025 is approximately $10,000,006.74 and explained that, although the tax rate increased, assessed values and collection assumptions resulted in a levy about $16,869 lower than the prior year. Guzman noted the city budgets at 96% of levy in recognition of typical collection rates.
Councilmembers voted to accept the certification without further public discussion. The vote as recorded in the transcript included ayes from Councilmembers Birch, Mortimer, Childs, Salter and McKenna.
The certification places the 2025 levy in the record and allows staff to proceed with fiscal planning that assumes the certified amount and the city’s budgeted collection rate.
