DRC flags amendment as Floridian Town Center hotel plan exceeds existing room cap

The Apopka Development Review Committee on Tuesday reviewed the second submittal for the Floridian Town Center Hotel and noted a discrepancy between the proposed room count and the existing development agreement.
A project manager for the submittal told the committee, “the plan calls for a 137 room hotel.” Committee staff replied that “the existing development agreement for the Floridian Town Center caps the hotel room at 120,” and said staff had circulated a proposed amendment for the DRC’s review. The staff memo said any amendment would need approval by the Apopka City Council at a future public hearing.
The applicant was present and had received DRC comments; no technical questions or objections were raised during the DRC discussion. Community Development, Public Works, Fire and Building departments reported no additional comments during the meeting.
Next steps: staff and the applicant will coordinate the amendment language and bring the proposal to a future city‑council public hearing for formal consideration.
