Milton council pulls agenda item after resident raises missing redline

The Milton City Council removed agenda item 8(b) from its Dec. 1 meeting after a resident said the policy in the meeting packet did not include redline edits comparing it to the last council-approved version.
Jackie Strader of Milton told the council she was speaking on agenda item 8(b) and asked that the item be pulled because “the policy that you've been given is not the last policy you approved” and the redline copy in the packet appeared to have deletions that were not shown. She said she had highlighted changes in a PDF she intended to present if the council proceeded.
Councilmember White said she was made aware of Strader’s concern and asked staff to provide a redline of the last version the council approved; White moved to move the item to the next or a future meeting so the council could review a redline of the previously approved document. The motion was seconded and the council voted to remove item 8(b) from tonight’s agenda (transcript records the motion as passing '6 1').
Mayor noted staff’s position that the interim edits were verbal/wording changes that did not require council approval, but councilmembers said they were uncomfortable proceeding without a clear redline showing additions and deletions. The mayor said staff could bring the item back at a future meeting after providing the requested redline.
The council proceeded with the rest of its agenda after striking item 8(b) from tonight’s packet.
