At the start of the meeting, the village recognized the Arlington Heights Farmers Market for a successful season. Volunteer organizer Maggie Schwaga described the market’s growth from about 10 vendors to more than 50 and said the market welcomed "over 75,000 people" this year; she invited residents to a winter market on Dec. 13 and said the season will resume May 9.
The board also held a ceremonial portion of the meeting to swear in two new police sergeants. Officer Jonathan (John) Vincent and Officer Michael (Mike) Tirano each took the oath of office and received duty stars and ceremonial pins. Chief (unnamed in the transcript) praised both officers’ service and field-training roles. Each officer gave brief remarks thanking family, colleagues and the community.
