Titus County commissioners declare small lakeside parcel surplus, approve one-house subdivision and routine financial reports

The court declared the county-owned property located between Lot 1587 and Lot 1588 on County Road 2920 surplus and moved to list it for sale to return it to the tax rolls. Commissioner Mitchell explained the strip is narrow, sits on a steep slope, and previously had a boat ramp that is now demolished. He said the parcel cannot support a house or septic system and is ‘‘no use to us’’ in its current condition. Commissioner Mitchell made the motion to list the property for sale; Commissioner Parchman seconded and the court voted in favor. The motion carried unanimously.
The court also approved the Moreno Subdivision on County Road 1635 so a landowner can transfer a parcel to his son and establish a single new house and driveway off the county road. Commissioner Parchman moved to approve the subdivision; Commissioner Mitchell seconded and the motion carried. A speaker on the record estimated the property area as ‘‘almost 10’’ acres.
At about 9:07 a.m. the court recessed into executive session to discuss a potential contract or agreement with Anderson Town Crossing Partnership LLC, citing Texas Government Code section 551.073. City Manager Rob Van was asked to join the session because the city is also entering into an agreement; the court returned to open session at about 9:28 a.m. No formal action resulting from the executive session was recorded on the public minutes during this meeting.
Routine financial business proceeded after the executive session. The quarterly investment report prepared by Ben was approved on a motion by Commissioner Mitchell, seconded by Commissioner Parchman. The court also approved oral and written reports of county officials and accepted the treasurer’s report as a matter of record. Commissioners authorized signing pay orders to pay county bills. The court recorded that there were no budget amendments on this agenda.
In closing comments commissioners offered condolences to the Hagerman family and noted the passing that morning of Lieutenant Governor Radcliffe; they also recognized Kinkade Henry’s rodeo victory. Commissioner Mitchell moved to adjourn; Commissioner Parchman seconded and the meeting adjourned at about 9:31 a.m.
