At the Nov. 24 meeting, city staff provided a series of routine operational updates and council members offered brief community reports.
Public works staff said the street sweeper schedule was changed for November to the first and third Thursday/Friday (from the second and fourth), and reported the change appears to be working well. Chamber of Commerce organizers are finalizing plans for the Christmas festival and parade; staff asked council members to sign up for vehicle participation so names can be provided to parade organizers.
The city clerk said audio‑visual upgrades approved for the council chambers are scheduled to start Tuesday and continue through Friday, with the work expected to be completed in time for the Dec. 8 meeting. "They plan to be here Tuesday through Friday, which is just in time for our December 8 meeting," the clerk said.
Public safety staff summarized two recent community events: a faith‑based security workshop and a hero workout honoring Deputy Wallace that drew about 60 participants. Staff also told the council they had received speeding complaints and planned extra patrols and radar trailer placement; they said a DUI checkpoint in or near the city is possible in the coming months and that notification typically appears the day before.
Council members offered community updates, including Veterans Day activities and shout‑outs to local choirs and staff, and closed the meeting by directing staff to return to closed session later in the agenda to discuss anticipated litigation.
