The Hughson City Council voted to authorize city staff to release updated and expanded bid documents for a well facility TCP improvement project, which staff said includes five separate scopes: well rehabilitation, electrical system updates, water treatment system rehabilitation, backwash tank improvements and the original GAC treatment element.
Staff noted the figures presented to council are engineer cost estimates and that actual contract amounts will be determined after bids are opened; staff said the five scopes could be awarded to separate contractors or consolidated if a single bidder can perform multiple scopes. Scheduling was described as flexible but planned to avoid peak demand (work to be done between November and April where possible) and the GAC system installation was scheduled to minimize impacts on water operations.
Council moved and approved the authorization to circulate the revised bid packages; staff will bring contract awards back to council after bid evaluation. No dollar contract awards were made at the meeting; the action authorizes the solicitation process and preserves council oversight of final contract approvals.
