Council and staff discussed the practical calendar and review steps: council may accept, amend or reject recommendations; the board of elections and the secretary of state review submissions; a May/June submission window was identified as suitable to meet an August finalization deadline for the November municipal ballot. If the process misses deadlines, the next regular municipal election would be in 2029.
Council indicated it will review recommended language, invite Charter Commission members to future meetings, and prepare for the ballot-submission process if it chooses to proceed.
