Summary
Edgar Gonzales, project engineer for the City of Mission, said curb-and-gutter and sidewalk work is underway on Bryan Road, with east-side work to 22nd Street and a detention pond planned at Bridal Elementary during the Christmas break; a town hall is set for Jan. 5.
Edgar Gonzales, project engineer for the City of Mission, provided a brief update on the Bryan Road construction, saying curb-and-gutter and sidewalk work is underway and that the city expects portions of the corridor to reopen to the public "hopefully before the end of the year." Gonzales identified the west-side curb-and-gutter as complete in front of the Mission ISD administration building and said work is now starting on the east side up to 22nd Street.
Gonzales said the contractor is planning to construct a detention pond at Bridal Elementary School "during the Christmas break" so "there's no children present during the construction of that." He added the contractor will also build portions of roadway in front of Bryan Elementary in a way that preserves the school's pickup and drop-off circulation.
The city is scheduling a town hall for Jan. 5 to answer resident questions or concerns about the project. "We wanna thank, the residents for their patience and understanding as we continue with the construction of Bryan Road project," Gonzales said.
No formal votes or motions were recorded in the update; Gonzales presented construction sequencing, safety timing around schools, and an upcoming public meeting as the next steps for community engagement.
