Cheltenham School District staff on Thursday told the policy committee they are proposing a significant rewrite of the district's high-school graduation Administrative Regulation (AR) to make diplomas more attainable and to create clearer career and college pathways.
The Office of Education presenter told the committee the district currently requires 27 credits for the class of 2024 and 28 credits for the class of 2025 and beyond, and proposed a new minimum for the class of 2026 that would keep English at four credits but cut math, science and social studies to three credits each, increase health from 0.5 to 1 credit and designate financial literacy as a distinct 0.5-credit course.
