Students press board for more Regents and SAT prep; district pledges plan

Dr. Gonzales, speaking for district staff, said the board would consider a regents prep plan and that Kaplan tutoring had offered up to 30 slots at each high school this term; he said the district would work with counselors to identify students still needing SAT support and to provide fee waivers and guidance. "We do have staff set to begin for the board to consider this evening, for regents prep to begin as early as tomorrow," Dr. Gonzales said.
Trustees and staff discussed expanding after-school, Saturday, night or partner-district programming (including Rockland BOCES) to accommodate students who work or have scheduling conflicts. The superintendent said a more specific plan would be developed at the principals’ meeting and communicated to families and principals before the holiday break.
No vote was taken; the board asked staff to return with a concrete plan and timeline.
