Whitehouse council reappoints Planning & Zoning and EDC members; opens application for vacancy

The City of Whitehouse council on Dec. 16 approved multiple board reappointments for two-year terms expiring in November 2027 and directed staff to open applications for forthcoming vacancies.
Miss Nichols reported that four Planning & Zoning commissioner terms were expiring; three incumbents—Randy Humphrey, Cassie Hollinshead and Daniel Turner—had expressed interest in continuing their service, while Serena Watson declined reappointment. Staff recommended reappointing Humphrey, Hollinshead and Turner to two-year terms ending in November 2027 and opening applications to fill remaining vacancies.
For the Whitehouse Economic Development Corporation (EDC), Miss Nichols said four board-member terms were expiring; Jerry Akins, Bob Breedlove, Maria Davenport and Tom Trimble had expressed interest in continuing to serve. Staff recommended reappointing all four to two-year terms expiring November 2027.
A councilmember moved to reappoint the recommended individuals and to open the application process for the Planning & Zoning vacancy; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
During discussion the presiding official emphasized the importance of attendance on Planning & Zoning given anticipated development activity and said new "shot clock" legislation from the state increases the importance of quorum and timely deliberation. Staff said they will publicize openings and return appointments at a future meeting.
The council then continued with other agenda items.
