Glendale authorizes shared-access driveway easement with VIA Resorts LLC

Glendale — The City Council authorized the city manager on Dec. 9 to enter a shared-access driveway easement and maintenance agreement with VIA Resorts LLC for a driveway that will serve as a fire lane and access road for the VIA parking structure and adjacent city‑owned land.
Randy Huggins, director of development services, said the agreement presented at the council workshop and in the meeting packet shows VIA will cover the cost of design, construction, routine maintenance and utility billing for the driveway, while the City of Glendale will remain owner of the property and all improvements. "According to this agreement, VIA will be responsible for the cost of the design and construction of the driveway improvements, routine maintenance and upkeep and water power and related utility billing," Huggins stated.
Council sought a brief clarification and asked the motion to authorize the city manager to make any necessary changes based on final engineering documents; the council approved that authorization and the easement by unanimous vote.
The agreement in the packet included exhibits that illustrate driveway extents, and staff said the final easement legal description and constructed improvements will be based on final construction documents approved by the city.
