Hamilton County moves forward with $280,000 plan to move health permits online

Hamilton County health department staff told commissioners Nov. 24 they plan to expand online permitting after earlier success with food permits. The proposed project, using vendor Computronics, would add online applications, fee payments and renewals for body art and commercial pool permits, and staff said grant funding is available to cover the work.
Staff reported the project was quoted at about $280,000 and that the online rollout has reduced staff time for foods permitting. Commissioners supported moving forward, noting the potential efficiency gains for both permit applicants and county staff and directing staff to bring back any additional cost details if needed.
The board approved the project by voice vote; staff said they would coordinate scope and use available grant funds. The county also discussed continuing to track tourism and market comparisons for fairground rental rates at a separate agenda item.
