Seven Hills council elects Philip Kariakas president; Justin Costanzo chosen pro tem

Philip Kariakas was elected president of the Seven Hills City Council and Justin Costanzo was chosen council president pro tem at the start of the council's Dec. 16 meeting.
The council put both nominations to roll call votes after members offered the nominations and seconds; the clerk recorded unanimous 'yes' votes. After the reorganization the law director turned the meeting over to the newly seated president.
Costanzo thanked his colleagues after his selection, saying he looked forward to "moving us forward." Mayor Villasciaga later welcomed newly seated Ward 2 councilman Brian Kelly and congratulated the council on recent election results.
The reorganization occurred at the start of the meeting and set the presiding officers for council business during the new term. The council then proceeded to consider ordinances, a levy resolution and reports from city departments.
