The Rules, Ordinances & Ethics committee approved language clarifying that, for the purpose of scheduling council meetings, a legal holiday will be deemed any federal or state of Ohio recognized holiday.
Councilman Martin explained the proposed insertion to rule "1 1 21.09," saying it would help the council schedule meetings when holidays fall on regular meeting dates. He moved to adopt the language; Councilman Elliot seconded. Roll call recorded "Elliot, yes; Snitsky, yes; Martin, yes," and the committee adjourned after approval.
Mayor Biaseata noted that city hall historically follows the union holiday schedule and said administration would reflect that position in upcoming union negotiations. The committee’s action clarifies council scheduling; any operational or labor changes remain subject to those negotiations.
