Napa County supervisors approve consent item, hear call for better translation services; closed session yields no reportable action

The Napa County Board of Supervisors approved the consent calendar (Item 3a) by unanimous voice vote at its Nov. 25 meeting. Chair Cottrell asked for a motion; a supervisor moved the item and Supervisor Alessio seconded; the board recorded 'Aye' and the chair said, "Motion carries unanimously."

During board reports Supervisor Gallagher thanked an interpreter and called publicly for the county to provide professional simultaneous translation for Spanish-speaking members of the public and translation for English speakers when needed, framing it as a matter of dignity and inclusion. “We need to be more inclusive,” Gallagher said, and described simultaneous translation as a language-access priority the county should adopt.

Later the board recessed to closed session for Agenda Item 6a, described by staff as a public employee performance evaluation regarding the chief executive officer. Upon returning from closed session, Ms. Bratton reported the board had met on Item 6a and that there was “no reportable action.” Chair Cottrell adjourned the meeting and set the next regular meeting for Dec. 9, 2025.
