Engineer updates commissioners on subdivisions, paving delays and new striping machine

Engineer Mark Massey updated the Limestone County Commission at the Dec. 1 work session on planning and road operations.
Massey presented two minor subdivision matters for consideration: Copper Field Subdivision (7th edition), a re-subdivision creating a single lot in District 2, and Mullins Grove, a minor plat creating five lots in District 1. Both were described as preliminary and final minor plats.
On roads, Massey reported paving delays caused by recent rain and low temperatures that will prevent paving on the next day; he said crews will attempt to work Wednesday and Thursday to recover time. He also said the county received a new striping machine and is awaiting training; he and the chair discussed potentially offering striping assistance to other counties under memoranda of understanding to help defray equipment costs.
The chair and Massey described the striping machine purchase as an important operational upgrade that may improve reliability and reduce recurring maintenance problems.
No formal votes were taken on subdivision approvals or inter-county agreements during the work session; items were presented for placement on the formal agenda.
