Board approves tower lighting upgrade, culvert bid and budget resolution; annexation passes without objection

Walton County’s board approved several procurement and budget items Tuesday as part of its consent and regular agendas.
Contracts and bids: the board approved a budgeted contract with LumiServe to upgrade FAA-required LED security lighting on 911 radio towers for $56,003.38, subject to county attorney review. The board also accepted the low bid for the Dry Pond Road culvert replacement from Wilson Construction Management LLC for $811,348; the project is LRA/GDOT-funded.
Budget and intergovernmental items: commissioners approved a resolution to amend the county budget to comply with House Bill 85 concerning locality pay for Superior Court judges in the judicial circuit, with staff explaining the county would continue its existing supplement payments as the state phases in salary changes. The board also voted that it does not intend to object to two annexation requests from the City of Social Circle for two parcels, a procedural step the city requested.
The Holland & Knight engagement for transportation lobbying was discussed and approved in an earlier agenda item (see separate item), and staff noted these contracts will proceed only after county attorney review.
