The Village of Lakemore council voted to adopt an ordinance changing the villages water base and usage rates, with the new rates scheduled to take effect on the April 1, 2026 billing cycle. Council recorded a roll-call vote on the motion to adopt the ordinance; one member, Miss Anderson, abstained while the remaining members voted in favor.
As read into the record during the meeting, the ordinance sets the quarterly base rate for residential and commercial accounts at $80.47 and applies an additional $5.20 per 1,000 gallons consumed above the first 1,000 gallons covered by the base rate. The ordinance also provides for automatic annual increases of 20 cents to the usage rate each April 1.
Council members who supported the ordinance said the rate changes are intended to meet operating expenses, debt obligations and capital reserve needs for the villages water utility. The ordinance was adopted following a standard motion, second and roll-call vote by council.
The ordinance text as read specifies the effective date (April 1, 2026) and the mechanism for subsequent annual adjustments; the full ordinance language was entered into the record during the meeting.
