The Warren County Board on Dec. 2 approved the sheriff's office request to hire an additional jailer and to create/promote two sergeant positions to improve night supervision and shift coverage.
The sheriff's representative told the board the jail currently runs 19 approved positions across four shifts and requested a twentieth jailer so each shift could have five officers, plus two sergeant promotions to bolster night supervision. Leadership said turnover is high in jail positions and several deputies and sergeants will reach retirement age in coming years, creating additional staffing pressure.
Supervisors expressed support, commending jail leadership for managing variable inmate populations and for taking inmates from other counties when capacity allows. The motion to approve hiring and promotions passed on a roll call vote.
