Fiscal Court approves Waterford Park upgrades proposed by Central County Soccer

The Spencer County Fiscal Court voted to allow the Central County Soccer association to make several upgrades at Waterford Park, including removable fencing along a creek to reduce lost balls and a remodel of the concession stand to add a larger serving window, updated electrical and plumbing and commercial equipment.

Josh, who said he represents Central County Soccer, told the court the association will pay for the work and that the fence posts would be designed to be removable if creek flooding occurs. He said the concession stand needs a larger central window and repairs to plumbing and electrical to enable expanded hot-food service.

The court’s motion that passed included three conditions: work must be coordinated with the county parks director and maintenance staff, contractors must have a Spencer County business license before starting work, and the group must call for utility locates before digging and hold county employees harmless for agreed tasks. The maker of the motion asked that county staff be involved in vetting any contractor and oversee electrical or plumbing work.

Officials asked the soccer group to coordinate directly with Parks Director Brian and maintenance staffer Daniel Cole. The court approved the motion by voice vote; no recorded roll-call tally was given in the transcript.
