Speaker 2 and Speaker 4 said Schoology (the learning-management platform) is owned by PowerSchool and that integrating teachers’ lesson data into PowerSchool could simplify grading and reporting. But state reporting is done through Infinite Campus (IC), and Speaker 2 said the state’s IC coordinator, Amy Sigler, expressed concerns about how the partner program and Emmett will be represented in IC if the systems are merged.
Staff recommended a bridge approach: run both systems in parallel the first year to validate synchronization and avoid PowerSchool overwriting Infinite Campus records ("we won't let PowerSchool override anything in Infinite Campus except for grades and attendance, period," Speaker 4 said). Trustees asked staff to continue discussions with state IC staff, to provide names of technical contacts, and to return with a plan before the service-agreement decisions scheduled for February.
No decision to change the services agreement was made at the meeting; the board asked for more information and for staff to consult the state coordinator before proceeding with a full migration.
